Dr. Carl Deane
Dentist
Dr. Carl Deane is originally from Edmonton but has lived in Jasper and Seba Beach, Alberta briefly and traveled extensively in his younger years. He did both his undergrad and dental school at the University of Alberta and graduated in 1988. While completing the final years of dental school, he lived part-time in Ft. McMurray and then moved here to work at the Morrison Dental right after graduation as a new graduate. It was only a short time before the opportunity came to become a partner in the practice and he eventually became sole owner about 15 years ago. He just recently celebrated 30 years in the practice.
Dr. Deane has a passion for the great outdoors and is an accomplished skier, sailor, paddler and musher. His wanderlust has led him to travel all over the Rockies and central arctic by kayak, canoe, skis and dog team. He often believes that his best nights are those spent in a tent, whether it be in the summer or winter. Although he no longer keeps count, he believes he has traveled somewhere over 80,000 kilometers by dog team and still spends every opportunity he gets enjoying what our north has to offer! Dr. Deane’s relaxed, friendly, outgoing, and family friendly style shows up in every aspect of his practice and patients and staff often share a laugh during treatment.
Each patient is evaluated for their own dental needs and treatment options discussed. Every patient is treated in a practical and all-encompassing way with the final outcome kept in perspective at all times. Dr. Deane’s number one priority is making sure his patients are comfortable and that they receive quality care. He has years of experience working with special needs patients and is now one of the senior surgeons at the Northern Lights Regional Hospital. Dr. Deane has seen the ups and downs of Fort McMurray over the years but loves how our community comes together and helps each other out when the going gets tough.

I was born and raised in Fort McMurray and started my career in the dental industry as a Dental Assistant in 2013. After working for a year, I felt I needed more one on one with patients and decided to go back to school. I received my Dental Hygiene diploma from the Canadian National Institute of Health in Ottawa, Ontario, and started my hygiene career in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after graduation. Wanting to be near family, I moved back to Fort McMurray in 2017 and started working with the Morrison Dental, my new work family.
My love for dental hygiene was fostered from an experience I had when I was just 14 years of age. The dental hygienist I saw was friendly and excited about oral health; she talked to me about what good oral health means instead of just showing me how to care for my mouth. I realized I had been brushing and flossing for as long as I could remember without really knowing the why of it all. This appointment helped pushed me to realize my love of the health field and the difference one person can make; I really wanted to help people the way she helped me.
Growing up in Fort McMurray I was and still am a big part of baseball. From fast pitch on the Fort McMurray rep team to now coaching a slo-pitch team, I enjoy all things baseball! I love golfing, anything to do with the outdoors, and am always willing to help out with the family business. My priority as a dental hygienist is very simple, to pass on the knowledge which was passed on to me, to explain oral health instead of just what to do. If I can help my patients understand what oral health is and the impact it has on overall health, then I know I have done my job.

I came to Canada in 2005, from Romania where I graduated the University of Dentistry. Loving the dentistry field, and willing to continue my dental carrier, I worked initially as a dental assistant, then I graduated the Toronto College of Dental Hygienists & Auxiliaries becoming a Dental Hygienist. I love working with people and enjoy helping patients improve their oral hygiene for a brighter and healthier smile.
I am excited to be part of the Morrison Centre Dental Group and to practice in the community of Fort McMurray.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family. I love traveling, reading and hiking.
